[0002] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION AND SECTOR OF THE TECHNIQUE
[0004] The present invention consists of a device to prevent the opening of the buckle of a seat belt, of an anchoring system, when the doors of the vehicle, in which the belt is installed, are closed, blocking access to the opening handle , located on the seat of said vehicle.
[0006] The invention is included within the automotive sector, more specifically in equipment or vehicle parts relating to automotive safety, specifically in the retention of belts or safety harnesses in vehicles.
[0008] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0010] Seat belts are widely used in motor transport vehicles, especially automobiles such as cars, vans or buses.
[0012] The most common safety devices of this type of elements have certain parts in common, depending on their classification, which consist of a seat belt strap, configured to extend through the upper and lower part of the user's trunk, a device that allows the extension and retraction of the belt, so that the belt can adapt to different sizes of the occupants and is retracted when not in use, a locking system, which prevents the belt from leaving in sudden movements, in addition of a buckle with a tongue that is releasably attached to a pin of an anchoring system, the way of releasing the device being by means of a release button.
[0014] These elements that make up the seat belt devices must be securely fixed to the structural elements of the vehicle, to provide the necessary retention effect in a vehicle impact situation and also to comply with regulations related to safety.
[0015] In recent years, different systems and devices have been developed to prevent a user of a vehicle in which it is being transported from being able to free itself from the seat belt with which it has been fastened. This technology has been commonly oriented towards the safety of young children, these being the most likely to get rid of said safety devices both accidentally and when they do not assess the seriousness of the situation.
[0017] However, it is also common that, in the transfer of detainees in vehicles of security forces, such as the police, the detainees have the intention of freeing themselves from restraint devices, such as the seat belts present in said vehicles, with the consequent risk that such action can produce in the event of an accident.
[0019] In fact, one of the most complex situations that security forces are subjected to when transferring a detainee is that, once said detainee is introduced into the rear area of a vehicle for transfer, the latter can put up resistance, being necessary that one or more members of security counteract it, existing the risk of injury to one or both opposing parties. In this situation of resistance on the part of the detainee, it is necessary to make unusual efforts by the security members until the mandatory security measures in the vehicles are adjusted.
[0021] Due to this, to prevent the detainees from being released, the means of releasing said security measures are not available to the detainees in the vehicles, in fact, different regulations on the transfer of these members indicate that the closures and openings of Security features must be accessible only by users of the security forces.
[0023] To this end, the present invention has been developed in which the release devices of the security elements blocked and hidden from the retained user of said device are located, there is no similar product on the market to that defined in this document that solves the problems described of use.
[0025] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0026] Knowing the background described, the present invention has been designed to solve the drawbacks of the state of the art, offering a new device configured to block and hide the access to the release of a seat belt, being accessible from a second part of the vehicle in which it is installed.
[0028] In fact, the invention consists of a device that allows the use of the seat belt in a usual way but modifying the access to the release button of the anchoring systems. That is to say, it is oriented to prevent a user who is attached to the vehicle by said belt, from being able to access the release button of the anchoring system by releasing the tab of the buckle, releasing himself from said vehicle.
[0030] To this end, the configured seat belt locking device comprises a connection mechanism that in turn comprises a cable, a first connector at a first end of said cable, configured to connect to a locking mechanism and a second connector at a second end of the cable, configured to connect to an opening pull mechanism.
[0032] The locking mechanism is configured to be fixed to a first part of the vehicle where the anchoring system of the seat belt device is located. For this, said locking mechanism comprises a registration casing fixed to said anchoring system, configured to cover the release button, but having an opening configured to allow the introduction of the buckle tongue in the anchoring system. The locking mechanism also comprises an opening latch configured to engage the first connector of the connection mechanism cable and to move linearly with respect to the recording housing, depressing the release button as it is moved.
[0034] On the other hand, the seat belt locking device also comprises an opening pull mechanism comprising a fixed casing configured to join a second part of the vehicle and an opening casing connected to the fixed casing, in a hinged manner with respect to a opening shaft, and also attached to the second cable connector. In this way, the opening handle mechanism is configured to open, by rotating the opening housing relative to the fixed housing, pulling and moving the cable, said cable being in a stretched position, moving the opening latch, pressing the release button.
[0036] In one embodiment, the opening latch has a "C" shaped cross section and comprises four walls. A first side wall with a first through hole configured to be fixed to the first cable connector, a second side wall, parallel to the first side wall, with a second through hole opened by a slot to allow the cable to be positioned through said second hole through, a front wall, connected perpendicularly to the first and second side walls and comprising a sliding rail to move the opening latch according to said rail, and a projecting wall, parallel to the front wall, connected by a connector of the first side wall.
[0038] This configuration of the opening latch allows that, by longitudinally displacing the opening latch along the travel rail, with respect to the registration housing, the projecting wall depresses the release button of the anchoring system.
[0040] In one embodiment, the locking mechanism also comprises a guide fixture having a "U" shaped cross section, comprising three faces or walls. A first side face that has a first threaded through hole, a second side face that has a second through hole opened by a guide slot, to allow the cable to be positioned through said first through hole, and a front face, perpendicular to the third and second side face.
[0042] Said guide fastening is rigidly connected to the recording housing by means of a connecting plate and by means of a shaft screw screwed to the first through hole.
[0044] The tie plate has a "U" shaped cross section and is positioned perpendicular to the "U" shaped section of the guide fixture. It comprises a central wall attached to the front face of the guide fixture and two engagement walls attached to the recording casing.
[0046] The front face of the guide fixing is longitudinally and slidably assembled to the sliding rail of the front wall of the opening latch, the first being side face located parallel between the first side wall and the second side wall.
[0048] The locking mechanism also comprises a compression spring, located between the first side wall and the first side face, configured to exert a separation tension between said walls and the axis screw that joins the registration casing to the guide fixing through a hole. casing of said register casing, where a shaft of the shaft screw passes through the first through hole of the opening latch and the compression spring.
[0050] In this way, this configuration allows the guide fixing of the locking mechanism to be always fixed to the registration casing, the opening latch being the one that moves longitudinally with respect to the displacement rail and the axis screw, when pulling the mechanism cable. of connection. With this movement, the release button is pressed, releasing the buckle from the anchoring system. Once the release latch has depressed the release button and the cable is released from the connecting mechanism, the compression spring exerts a tension that moves the release latch longitudinally back to a position where the release button is not depressed.
[0052] For said locking mechanism to be fixedly attached to a first part of the vehicle, it comprises a plate rigidly attached to the registration casing by means of a first means of attachment, where said plate prevents manipulation of the anchoring system, hiding it inside the system itself. vehicle, joining the sheet to said first part.
[0054] The first connecting means comprises at least one screw, an escutcheon washer and a first flat washer, said screw configured to rigidly join the plate to the recording casing.
[0056] In one embodiment, the fixed housing of the opening pull mechanism has a "U" shaped section and comprises a flat side surface configured to be attached to the second part of the vehicle by means of a second attachment means, where said side surface has a hole side through where the second cable connector is inserted, a front surface located perpendicularly by a connector of the lateral surface and a projecting surface parallel to the lateral surface. It also comprises two separate, parallel plates perpendicular to the lateral surface and the front surface, where each plate comprises a through plate hole, these holes being equal, parallel and concentric.
[0058] The opening casing has a "U" -shaped section and comprises a flat front strip, two parallel lateral strips joined perpendicularly by two end edges of the front strip, where said side strips each comprise a hole for through strip, where said holes are located concentrically to the through plate holes of the fixed casing. The stripes of this element are the faces, surfaces or walls that compose it.
[0060] The opening housing also comprises an opening plate, attached to the front strip, which has a section in the shape of a "Z" and which comprises an open plate slot configured to introduce the cable through it, said slot being parallel to the strip. front so that the cable is trapped in said slot.
[0062] The opening axis is connected to the two lateral strips and to the two parallel bars, passing concentrically through the through plate holes and the through strip holes, comprising an articulated joint, of the hinge type, between the opening housing and the housing. fixed, the opening axis having a recess in each of its ends, configured to couple a fixing washer, which retains said axis with respect to the opening and fixed housings.
[0064] On the other hand, the opening pull mechanism also comprises a torsion opening spring, located concentrically on the opening axis, a first arm of said opening spring attached to the side surface and a second arm of the opening spring to the strip. front, said opening spring configured to exert a joint tension between the lateral surface and the front strip which causes the closing of the pull mechanism.
[0066] Thanks to this configuration, the opening handle mechanism can be placed in a part of the vehicle that is not accessible by the seat belt user, so that, due to its simple operation, when pulling the opening housing, it is rotated relative to the fixed housing, pulling the second connector the cable from the connection that is connected to the opening plate, moving the movement to the first connector long enough so that the opening latch moves to press the release button. In order to return the cable to a position in which it is not pulled, the torsion spring exerts a force that closes the fixed housing with respect to the mobile one.
[0068] In one embodiment, the second connecting means comprises at least one threaded pin, a second flat washer and a nut, said threaded pin configured to join the fixed casing to the second part of the vehicle and being tightened to screw the nut.
[0070] All of the described joining means comprising threaded elements can comprise more security elements, such as washers or retaining elements such as pins, to ensure the connection between the parts.
[0072] In one embodiment, the connection mechanism comprises a cylindrical sheath of polymeric material that longitudinally wraps the cable, said sheath being fixed, like the cable, of continuous circular section. This sheath prevents the cable from wearing out by friction, when it is displaced when it is pulled. In other words, the cover remains immobile when the opening mechanism moves, the cable being the one that moves inside it. Therefore, the sleeve can comprise more layers of other materials, in addition to that of polymer material, to ensure rigidity of the mechanism.
[0074] The first cable connector comprises a hollow sleeve having a cylindrical section attached to a first stop of the sheath, and an outer sleeve threaded section configured to pass through the second through hole of the second side face of the guide fixture and to screw into a cap nut, which fixes the cap to the guide fixture.
[0076] The cable passes through the interior of said hollow bushing and ends in a first cylindrical crimped terminal, with a larger section than a section of the cable, configured to fit into the second through hole of the opening latch, introducing said cable through the slot, being the first crimped terminal attached to the second side wall.
[0077] This first cable connection also comprises a holding spring located between the first crimped terminal and cap nut, configured to exert a separation tension between the opening latch and said cap nut. This support spring facilitates and improves the placement of the first connector in the locking mechanism, especially when the opening latch has moved and its subsequent positioning due to the compression spring.
[0079] The second connector comprises a hollow trigger tensioner, which has a cylindrical section attached to a second stopper of the sheath, and an outer and hollow trigger threaded section, configured to pass through the lateral through hole of the fixed housing, being attached to it. by means of two threaded trigger nuts tightened on each side of the lateral surface but separated by a flat trigger washer that protects the joint of the parts.
[0081] The cable is traversing the inside of said trigger tensioner and ends in a second cylindrical pressed terminal, with a larger section than a section of the cable. This trigger tensioner is configured to join the opening plate, introducing said cable through the plate groove, the second pressed terminal being trapped between the front strip and the opening plate.
[0083] In this way and thanks to said configuration, the connection mechanism is configured to transfer the rotary movement of the opening casing with respect to the fixed casing, up to the opening latch, moving said opening latch with respect to the registration casing and the anchoring system, pressing the release button. Once the load by which the opening housing is opened is removed, the cable recovers its initial state thanks to the springs that comprise the device.

[0169] PREFERRED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0171] As can be seen in Figure 10, the invention consists of a device to block access to the release button (51) of an anchoring system (5) of a seat belt, placing the unlocking of said device in a non-part. accessible to the belt user, specifically in a second part of the vehicle located between the user's seat and the vehicle door, being only accessible when the door is open.
[0173] In this image it is distinguished that this seat belt locking device comprises three different parts or set, a locking mechanism (1), an opening pull mechanism (2) and a connection mechanism (3).
[0175] The locking mechanism is shown in Figures 1 to 4, where Figures 1 and 2 show its arrangement with respect to the anchoring system (5) and the release button (51) and Figures 3 and 4 show the assembly of its parts.
[0177] Figure 1 shows the locking mechanism (1) assembled in its entirety, so that it comprises a registration casing (11) that covers the access of the anchoring system (5) but that includes an opening (111) to allow inserting the tongue of the seat belt buckle (4).
[0179] To join the rest of the elements that make up the locking mechanism, the registration casing (11) also includes a casing hole (112) through which a shaft screw (15) is inserted and some holes to be joined by means of two first means of connection. connection (17) to a plate (18), each of these first connecting means (17) being a screw (171), a shield stop washer (172) and a first flat washer (173), and the plate ( 18) an element to cover the access of the anchoring system (5).
[0180] Figure 1 also shows that the locking mechanism (1) is connected to the first connector (31) of the connection mechanism (3).
[0182] In figure 2 and in figure 3 it is observed that the registration casing (11) covers or covers the elements that allow the operation of the locking mechanism (1), such as the opening latch (12), the guide fixing (13 ), the compression spring (14), the shaft screw (15) and the connecting plate (16).
[0184] The opening latch (12) is shown alone in figure 5a, it is shaped like a "C" and is made up of a series of walls arranged perpendicular to each other, joined by the edges of their ends.
[0186] In the upper part it comprises a first side wall (121) with a first through hole (123) which is where the first connector (31) is fixed. In the lower part it comprises a second side wall (122), parallel to the first side wall (121), with a second through hole (124) opened by a slot (125), through which the cable (33) is inserted to that reaches the first through hole (123). In the central part, it comprises a front wall (126), attached perpendicularly to the first and second side walls (121 and 122) and comprising a displacement rail (127), along which said opening latch (12 ). Parallel to the front wall (126), it comprises a projecting wall (128) joined by a connector of the first side wall (121) being the wall that presses the release button (51) of the anchoring system (5) when it moves said opening latch (12), as can be seen in figure 2.
[0188] In the same figure 2, the connection between the opening latch (12), the guide fixing (13) and the connection plate (16), elements shown in greater detail in figure 5b, is also observed.
[0190] The guide fixation (13) has a "U" shape and is also composed of a series of faces or walls arranged perpendicular to each other, joined by the edges of their ends. These walls are a first side face (131) that has a first threaded through hole (133), where the shaft screw (15) is screwed, a second side face (132) that has a second through hole (134), opened by a guide groove (135), and a front face (136), perpendicular to the third and second lateral faces (131 and 132).
[0192] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the guide fastener (13) is rigidly connected to the registration housing (11) by means of a connecting plate (16) connected to the front face (136), and by means of a shaft screw ( 15) threaded through the first through hole (133).
[0194] The connecting plate (16) has a "U" shaped section, is located perpendicular to the "U" shaped section of the guide fastener (13) and comprises a central wall (161) joined to the face. front (136) and two mating walls (162) attached to the register housing (11).
[0196] On the other hand, the front face (136) of said guide fixing (13) is fitted in the displacement rail (127) of the front wall (126) of the opening latch (12), the first lateral face (131) being positioned parallel between the first side wall (121) and the second side wall (122). In this way, the opening latch (12) has the ability to move linearly with respect to the guide fixation (13), which remains immobile.
[0198] As can be seen in figure 3, since the compression spring (14) is located between the first side wall (121) and the first side face (131), it is exerting a separation tension between said walls (121 and 131) , that is to say, when tightening them, trying to join them, the spring tries to separate them by exerting a tension in the opposite direction.
[0200] The shaft screw (15) is joining the registration housing (11) to the guide fixing (13), going through the housing hole (112) and the shaft of the shaft screw (15) being passing through the first through hole (123) of the opening latch (12) and compression spring (14). Due to this configuration, an ideal linear displacement is achieved for the use of the locking mechanism (1), avoiding the misalignment of the parts.
[0202] Figures 6 and 7 show the opening pull mechanism (2) comprising a fixed casing (21) rigidly attached to a second part of the vehicle by means of a second connecting means (26), consisting of two threaded pins (261) united perpendicularly by a rear part of a lateral surface (211) of said fixed casing (21), two second flat washers (262) and two nuts (263), a washer (262) and a nut (263) corresponding to each pin. In this way, the fixed casing (21) is attached to said second part of the vehicle by tightening the nuts (263).
[0204] In addition to the lateral surface (211), the fixed housing (21), by comprising a "U" shape, also has a series of walls or surfaces joined perpendicularly at their edges. These walls are a front surface (212) that supports the fixed casing (21), being attached perpendicularly to the side surface (211) and a projecting surface (213), which prevents external elements from being introduced into the pull mechanism. opening (2).
[0206] In addition to the walls, the fixed casing (21) also comprises a lateral through hole (214) which is where the second connector (32) of the cable (33) is inserted, fixing it, as shown in figure 6.
[0208] On two sides of the lateral surface (211), the fixed casing (21) comprises two plates (215) in the same section of said fixed casing (21), one being on each side, so that each plate (215) comprises a through plate hole (216), both holes being equal and concentric.
[0210] The opening housing (22) is hingedly connected to the fixed housing (21) by an opening shaft (23).
[0212] This opening casing (22) is also "U" shaped and comprises a series of walls rigidly joined at their ends. These walls are a flat front strip (221), two parallel side strips (224) joined perpendicularly by two end edges of the front strip (221), each of them having a through strip hole (225).
[0214] These through holes (225) are located concentrically to the through plate holes (216) and are traversed by the opening shaft (23), forming the articulated joint of the opening pull mechanism (2). To prevent the said axis of The opening (23) may come off with use, it comprises two recesses (231), one at each end, in which a fixing or retaining washer (24) is assembled.
[0216] The aperture housing (22) also has an aperture plate (222) shown in the exploded view of Figure 7, which is attached to the front stripe (221). This opening plate (222) has a "Z" shaped section and comprises an open plate slot (223), parallel to the front strip (221), which is where the cable (33) is inserted.
[0218] As can be seen from Figure 6, the operation of the opening pull mechanism (2) consists in that, by applying a load on the opening casing (22), it is rotated with respect to the fixed casing (21), pulling the second connector (31) of the cable (33) which is removably fixed in the opening plate (222).
[0220] In order for the opening casing (22) to recover its initial position, the opening pull mechanism (2) comprises an opening spring (25) coupled to the opening shaft (23) itself, exerting a closing torsional tension on said opening housing (22). In this way, when the opening load is not applied, the opening handle mechanism (2) recovers its initial closed state.
[0222] Figures 8 and 9 show the connection mechanism (3) which basically consists of a metal cable (33) wrapped in a cylindrical plastic sheath for protection. This cable (33) is responsible for transmitting the movement of the opening pull mechanism (2) to the locking mechanism (1) as well as its subsequent recovery.
[0224] The first connector (31) of the connection mechanism (3) is composed of a hollow bushing (311), attached to a first stop of the sheath, which has a threaded bushing section (312) that is inserted through the second through hole (124) of the opening latch (12), being fixed to it by means of a cap nut (313).
[0226] The first connector (31) also comprises a first crimped terminal (315) that is cylindrical in shape and has a larger section than the section of the cable (33). Said first connector is configured to fit into the second through hole (124) of the opening latch (12) introducing the cable (33) through the slot (125), leaving the first pressed terminal (315) attached to the second side wall (122).
[0228] To prevent the first crimped terminal (315) from being displaced when the connection mechanism (3) is pulled, the first connector (31) comprises a holding spring (314) located between the first crimped terminal (315) and cap nut ( 313), so that it exerts a separation tension between the opening latch (12) and said cap nut (313).
[0230] The second connector (32) is similar to the first (31) in that it comprises a hollow trigger tensioner (321), which has a cylindrical section attached to a second butt of the sleeve, and an outer trigger threaded section (322), which passes through the lateral through hole (214), the cable (33) being passing through the interior of said trigger tensioner (321).
[0232] This trigger threaded section (322) is attached to the fixed housing (21) by two trigger nuts (323) and a flat trigger washer (324), as shown in Figure 6.
[0234] The second pressed terminal (325) is attached to the opening plate (222), the cable (33) being inserted through the plate groove (223), the second pressed terminal (325) being trapped between the front strip (221) and the opening plate (222).
[0236] In this way, the connection mechanism (3) translates the rotary movement of the opening casing (22) with respect to the fixed casing (21), to the opening latch (12), longitudinally displacing said opening latch (12) respecting the registration casing (11) and the anchoring system (5), pressing the release button (51).
